Chocolate orange and fresh cream

A bit of an experiment using patisserie chocolate and fresh oranges!

The only changes I would make is possibly add an ounce of cocoa powder to give a deeper colour and add the chocolate at room temperature instead of melted. Although they turned out well chucks of chocolate would be nice.

Cake drops!

I've been wanting to try cake pops for ages, so here was my attempt.

The only thing that let me down was that trying to get the right lollipop sticks is not easy or rather not cheap, hence why these turned into cake drops!
A good crafting shop should supply white paper lollipop sticks so that is my next port of call.

These were so much fun to make, a little messy and very greasy but lots of fun.

Lemon cupcakes and a sugar spun topping

These cupcakes were made for my baby cousin's 23rd birthday, 2 lemons per batch makes for a perfect sponge without the citrus becoming too over powering.

Add the juice of 1 lemon to the icing, you will notice that faces look impressed and don't scrunch up.

I am very critical of my own work but these were very good, the sugar spinning which I added to the top was fab. It added just enough sweetness and a bit of a crunch.

Birthday treat

Mum's 60th Birthday

For those who think butter icing is just a little too much, why not try this

The perfect combination of chocolate, fresh cream and summer fruits. Not too sweet and not to tart!

Mum isn't a huge fan of lots of sugar even if she does have a sweet tooth, so for her 60th Birthday party I have made her some special cakes which I know she will love.

Pink Lady!

Yet again I went pretty and pink. A special request from a special friend to a special friend. One of my oldest friends asked me to make her best friend birthday cupcakes, one thing though she loves pink. So here you are:

I did a mixture of edible decorations for variety, with edible silver and pink glitter.

At the moment I am trying to experiment with my icing, this time I piped individual icing stars all over each cupcake just to make it a bit fancier. I have to say I love it!

And now for the finishing touch, the packaging:

Easter!

Although I wasn't completely happy with this one it did taste amazing, chocolate heaven!

I realise my mistake now, add a drop of cream and it will smooth the icing. Therefore allowing the icing to stick to the cake easily and giving a much nicer finish.
